The team's reading favorites
This break time is an opportunity for us to share with you our favorites, our tips, our recipes. We will try to keep up the pace and regularly offer you articles that we hope will entertain you.
We will begin this series with two reading favorites. A graphic novel, In Waves by AJ Dungo which won the Fnac France Inter BD prize this year and the magazine Les Confettis , a concentrate of “feminine inspirations and aspirations”.

In Waves , by AJ Dungo, published by Casterman, 2019
This graphic novel, this comic book was a visual favorite in the bookstore. The graphic treatment of the cover, the shades of blue, meant that we only saw this cover in the store.
While reading, the author transports us very quickly into his love story for Kristen and for surfing. Water is the common thread of this story between waves and tears. It is the story of a mourning, of a romance, interspersed with episodes of Hawaiian culture treated in sepia.
You will have a pleasant time diving into this autobiographical story.
This book is available in all bookstores. Don't hesitate to support independent bookstores once the lockdown is over by ordering via librairiesindépendantes.com

Confetti , Feminine Inspirations and Aspirations, Volume 7
This magazine, which was originally a webzine, was imagined by Perrine Bonafos in 2010. Volume 7 is the first one we read but certainly not the last. Les Confettis have given themselves the mission of sharing the inspiring journeys of women with varied profiles.
In this issue, you can read the interview with the fabulous Pénélope Bagieu , author of Culottées , comics retracing the destiny of several women forgotten by History, but also discover the Scottish journey of Elisa Gallois and her family alias @etdieucrea or the portrait of the cosmetics brand Aesop created by Suzanne Santos…
Les Confettis is a beautifully constructed magazine. We like the choice of interviewees, the photography and the layout. And the little extra is the color which is a strong element of the magazine, and you know how we like color…
Shipments are currently suspended, but you can still place an order to support this wonderful adventure, and don't hesitate to visit the website www.lesconfettis.com to get an idea of what awaits you.

Designing Graphic Props for Filmmaking by Annie Atkins, Phaidon, 2020.
We'll save our next favorite for Annie Atkins' new book. If, like us, you love the world of Wes Anderson, then you might fall in love with the work of Annie Atkins, the graphic designer. She's the one who imagined all the printed and paper elements on The Grand Budapest Hotel , for example. Matchboxes, stamps, cake wrappers (she's the one who designed the graphics for Mendl's cakes), nothing is left to chance. We can't wait to leaf through it, and you?
In the meantime, check out Annie Atkins’ work on her Instagram !
We hope you enjoyed these three books! Don't hesitate to share your favorite readings or other things with us :)
